What a sad and twisted true life tale. Unfortunately, I don't think the world will ever know the truth behind the disappearance of Vonnie. I used to live near the home where Ronald Rickman grew up, which is also not far from the area where Rickman murdered the unarmed father and son who were logging trees on THEIR own property back in the 1960s. This is one dude who should have never been allowed to see the light of day after the first time he killed. Rickman's childhood home is set to be demolished soon...good riddance.

Lady Writer,
You ought to be ashamed of yourself. Do you know the rest of that family? Do you know that my grandparents (Rons mother and father), taught sunday school, helped clothe children of other families in the neighborhood, were founding members of the community, voulunteered, were good Christian people, and truely had hoped that Ron had found the help he needed back in the 1960's? My grandmother never had a bad word to say about anybody, and I would ask you to show her the same respect. Do you know that the Rickman family has been in the Kellner area and surrounding areas for over 200 years and that the demolishion of that homestead has been heart wrenching on all of us? While I do not deny that what happend to Vonnie, as those who actually knew her called her, was a terrible thing to happen to her and her daughter, Why do you feel the need to drag the rest of my family into this by your last comment? There are many, many, far worse familys over in that area that you could choose to throw stones at but please remmeber that you DO NOT know the whole story of this family. You clearly need to be reminded that this movie was written from the standpoint of Corrine and did not take into consideration the thoughts, feelings and opinions of Rons family. Based upon what you know, are you really in a position to judge the rest of his fmaily? Just another little bit of food for thought, if Rons family were such awful people, as you bid them good riddance, why did Kristina end up living with us and not Corrine and her family? Good riddance to you my friend and may you look inside yourself closely before you judge others.

And Tom, I would ask that you talk with your mother or aunts regarding your grandfathers past. Please do not rely on sources you can not identify.

Signed, the neice of Ronald Rickman, and PROUD member of the Rickman fmaily.

ERH thank you for standing up for what you know for a fact to be true. Unless 'Lady Writer' was/is directly involved in this family tragedy, she has no right to comment. Only those of us who lived and breathed what went on in those horrible days for all family members on all sides can truly know the story.
Thomas, by looking at the date of your original post I know that some very good things have happened in your life since then, we are proud of the man you have become, so please do not dwell on events or people that you cannot change. At some point when you can contact me, and I will be happy to tell you what we all experienced then. Until then, take care

He killed her then made his daughter be live her mom left her. The lives of two people were destroyed. A child grew up believing a criminal, rather than believing her mom would never leave her. That's the worst misjustice of all.

He wanted a new life and he gave his self one. I hope he loved his daughter enough for two people, that's the least he could have done for taking her mom away. He made up stories afterward, further creating the belief to his daughter, that your mom left you. She called me, she's been home, it breaks my heart to know that this child believed then, and today, that her mom left her. It's insane!! She had no criminal record, and you don't just leave home together, and come home alone. That is such a shady, told too often story, from spouses who want to leave the marriage without consequence. The best thing to do is say, "she left me"! The oldest story in the book! Check out the number of stories on-line.

The disservice to the child is criminal! I'm glad she feels she had a great upbringing & received lots of love from her father (the very least he could do). She was too young to really understand what was done to her, she obviously is still too young to understand the impact on her life.

Another injustice was done to her by allowing her to live outside of either family home. She was too young not to be swayed, and betray her own mom by continuing to believe her mom left her. A family will always side with their loved one. I wouldn't want to believe my son killed his wife, even if the facts proved he did, because I love him I wouldn't be able to fathom, or imagine, that he could ever do something so heinous.

The sister did right to tell anyone who would listen, what she knows happened. The facts can't be changed, the only thing missing is the body. No one will ever find it, just like that Stacy woman who "left her husband".

This was a sad sick story!!!!! Mom & daughter were never given the chance to be a true family. The daughter never lived a real childhood. Happy, or not, it was a life based on lies & deceit.

My prayers are with everyone involved. As a mom, I'm sure this has effected the family on both sides.

I believe lady writer said good riddance to a building where did she say anything about the family. He took 3 lives and destroyed families. I just watched the movie and that's why I'm here all these years later because I looked up this case to see if she was ever found. Listen to convict someone without a weapon or body at that time shows me without a doubt he is guilty. He should never have been back on the street after the first 2 murders insane or not
